Our Story
Snuggled in the Stonor Valley in the heart of the Chilterns, The Golden Ball is now home to Chef Ben Watson wife Priya and daughter Lily. Originally from the local area, Ben spent ten years in London working alongside some of the UK’s most celebrated chefs including Jason Atherton and Gordon Ramsay. Most recently, Ben was recruited to help launch Core by Clare Smyth, the renowned Notting Hill restaurant which was awarded its third Michelin star in 2023.
Priya likewise has spent many years working at the front of house in highly regarded London restaurants including The Square, Gymkhana and Brigadiers. Her experienced and friendly touch guarantees guests a warm welcome and attentive service.
Following the birth of daughter Lily in 2022, the couple decided to leave the hustle and bustle of London life and establish their own business in the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside.
The Golden Ball’s small but frequently changing menu features modern British cooking with the occasional subtle touch of Indian spicing. Local and seasonal ingredients take centre stage whenever possible to create a memorable dining experience.
